I am carrying difficulty removing google earth pro to work. Now a google await (or miss of support) team, indicate which you need to a user representative in to a substitute server. If the proxy is passing on the information then Google Earth itself (or your web browser etc) should be sending out a user agent and your proxy should simply pass it along.
It’s possible I guess that either your proxy or firewall is stripping out the user agent from requests, although i would be surprised. You can check that by visiting http://www.useragentstring.com/ and seeing what it can see.
The problem is probably down to an incompatibility between google earth and your proxy… is your proxy using http 1.1 or 1.0 for example.

It seems you’re not alone in having problems with Google Earth and proxies… I just did this search http://www.google.com/search?q=google+earth+proxy&btnG=Google+Search and found lots more people in the same boat. Perhaps some of those search results would help.
